Restore confidence with advanced scar camouflage tattooing at FabULash Artistry in Atlantic Beach near Jacksonville, FL.  We specialize in blending surgical scars, injury scars, stretch marks, and hypopigmented scars with custom-matched paramedical pigments for natural-looking results.

What Is Scar Camouflage?

Scar camouflage is a specialized paramedical tattooing technique that implants custom-matched skin-tone pigments into scar tissue to help it blend with the surrounding skin.

Each pigment is carefully mixed to match your unique complexion and applied using precise tattooing methods.

For the most seamless results, multiple pigment tones are blended to recreate the natural variations of the skin surrounding skin.

Scar camouflage, also known as skin-colored tattooing or paramedical tattooing.

Types of Scars That Can Be Camouflaged

We offer customized scar-specific tattooing  for a wide range of concerns, including:

Surgical or Injury Scars

  • Surgical or Injury Scars - Personalized scar camouflage treatments help improve the appearance of scars from surgeries or injuries by softening edges and blending them with the surrounding skin tone.

Areola Restoration After Breast Reconstruction

  • Areola Restoration After Breast Reconstruction - This paramedical tattoo technique recreates the natural color and appearance of the areola and nipple after breast reconstruction.  It helps restore symmetry and creates a natural, realistic result for clients healing from mastectomy or reconstruction surgery.

Areola Scar Camouflage After Breast Reduction

  • Areola Scar Camouflage After Breast Reduction - After breast reduction surgery, custom color-matching techniques are used to soften and blend scars around the  areola. This treatment minimizes visible scarring and improves the overall  cosmetic appearance.

When Is The Best Time To Get My Scar Camouflage Procedure Done?

The Best Time Is Whenever You Are Ready

Scar camouflage can safely be performed year-round, so the best time whenever you feel ready to begin your transformation.

Why Some Clients Prefer Cooler Months

While scar camouflage is available at any time of the year, some clients prefer cooler months because healing is a little easier when naturally:

  • Have less sun exposure
  • Sweat less
  • Spend less time swimming
  • Wear more clothing that protects the area

These conditions can help simplify aftercare - they are not required.

If You Prefer Summer Results

Many clients book in spring or summer to feel confident for vacations and events. You can absolutely have the procedure done during warmer months - we'll provide simple aftercare steps to protect your results.

Key Things to Avoid During The Skin Healing Process:

  • Direct sun exposure
  • Shaving over the treated areas
  • Heavy sweating or intense workouts
  • Swimming, hot tubs, or saunas
  • Makeup, self-tanner, or chemicals on the treated area

Starting early puts time in your favor, you’ll be prepared when summer arrives!

Is the Origin of My Scar Important?
Many people feel unsure about sharing the story behind their scar - and that's completely normal.  You are always welcome to share your experience, but the origin of the scar does not affect how we treat or camouflage it.

Most scars are treated using a similar approach. What truly determines your personalized treatment plan includes:

  • Your natural skin tone
  • The size and location of the scar
  • The condition and age of the scar
  • The number of sessions needed to achieve your ideal result

In corrective micropigmentation, the appearance and texture of the scar matter far more than how the scar originally happened.

Do Scars Last Forever?

The permanence of scars is not a given; the choice is yours. We invite you to share your reasons for wanting your scars to become less visible.

Is Scar Camouflage an Easy Procedure?

Scar camouflage is a specialized procedure that may require multiple sessions depending on the size, age, and condition of the scar. During your consultation, we evaluate the area to determine the best treatment plan and realistic expectations for improvement.

In the assessment of a scar for corrective micropigmentation, the origin of the scar is less significant than its appearance and texture.

Schedule a consultation to evaluate your scar and determine if camouflage is right for you.

What is the Ideal Appearance and Texture for My Scar?

What is the appearance of the scar?

For effective scar camouflage, scars need to be fully healed and at least one year old. Ideally, the scar should be lighter in color than the surrounding skin to ensure safety and effectiveness in the camouflage.

What is the texture of the scar?                                                                                                                                  Scars vary in texture, with some being raised, creating a lumpy and bumpy sensation, indicative of scar tissue formation. For optimal results, the scar may require additional healing or smoothing treatments before pigment application. This step ensures that the camouflage blends seamlessly with your natural skin tone, achieving the most aesthetically pleasing outcome.

During your consultation appointment, we will discuss your medical history, any medications you’re currently taking, and the overall health of your skin. Following this thorough evaluation, we will collaboratively determine the most suitable plan tailored to your unique circumstances, ensuring that the approach we take is perfectly aligned with your individual needs and goals for optimal results.

Is Everyone A Good Candidate For Scar Camouflage?

  • Not everyone is a good candidate for scar camouflage. Patients with keloid problems or who have developed a raised scar after surgery or a previous tattoo may not be good candidates for this procedure. Patients with prior camouflages with scarring. Patients with active infections should wait until the infection has cleared before seeking treatment. Patients requesting areola and scar tissue tattooing after breast surgery will need to obtain your breast surgeon's approval before having the camouflage procedure.

What Treatment Options Exist for Scars?

Several treatments may be used to improve the appearance of scars depending on the type, age, and condition of the skin.

Laser treatments are sometimes used in dermatology to target layers of the skin with concentrated light energy. These procedures are typically performed in medical settings and may involve in many sessions.

At FabULash Artistry, we specialize in scar camouflage and paramedical tattooing, which focus on restoring  a more natural skin tone by carefully blending pigments with the surrounding skin.

This approach can help soften the visibility of:

  • Surgical scars
  • Injury scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Hypopigmented scars

Scar camouflage is a non-laser option designed to improve the appearance of scars while maintaining the natural texture of the skin.

What Can You Expect During Your Appointment?

  • Following your consultation and evaluation, if deemed a suitable candidate, we will schedule a session to address your scar. The initial treatment helps evaluate how your skin responds to the procedure.

What Are The Risks?

Your specialist will employ needles to breach the skin’s surface, and the procedure does carry certain risks. Primary risks involved are:

  • Minor skin irritation
  • Inconsistent pigment tones
  • Inability to achieve a perfect color match
  • Color fading with time
  • Spread or migration of the pigment

Scar tissue reacts to implanted pigment quite differently compared to normal tissue, which may lead to uneven coloration.

Occasionally, the body may form keloids (elevated scars) in response, often due to the scar not being completely healed. It is typically advisable to wait until the scar tissue has fully matured, which can take up to 12 months.

What Additional Factors Influence the Outcome?

Numerous factors can influence the final outcome of scar camouflage treatment including:

  • Genetic makeup
  • Skin’s pH level (acidity)
  • Innate skin color
  • Personal healing capacity
  • Propensity for skin to bruise
  • Daily habits and lifestyle
  • Consumption of alcohol
  • Use of medications
  • Health conditions
  • Skin traits (such as dryness, exposure to sun, texture, and oil level)

How Long Does Scar Camouflage Take?

  • Each scar is unique. Factors such as skin tone, scar age, location and individual healing response can influence the number of sessions needed.

  • In most cases, scar camouflage requires multiple treatments spaced several weeks apart to gradually improve the appearance of the scar.

  • FabULash is committed to utilizing transparent, pure and entirely natural techniques designed to improve the appearance of scars without the use of lasers or acids. The best way to determine the timeline for your specific case is through a personal consultation and skin evaluation.

What Does Proper Aftercare Involve?

  • Scar camouflage is a sophisticated paramedical procedure that necessitates meticulous aftercare to support healing and minimize irritation. During your treatment, you will receive detailed post-procedure care instruction to ensure optimal results.

  • Jenny is a certified paramedical micropigmentation specialist at FabULash Artistry . During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to review examples of her work and discuss the most appropriate treatment plan for your scar.
