SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION (SMP)

Micropigmentation Solution for Thinning Hair and Hair Loss

At FabULash Artistry, we understand that hair loss can impact more than just appearance—it affects confidence and self-image...

Scalp and hairline micropigmentation is a non-surgical solution that gives an illusion of  the presence of hair, to conceal scars or for mask facial and body flaws. Designed  to simulate the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp, this technique is perfect for helping with hair loss.

This treatment, called scalp or hair micropigmentation (SMP), lasts up to 4 - 6 years. Both micropigmentation and microblading are considered permanent makeup and can be used as effective, low-maintenance solutions for hair loss.

Learn More About Alopecia

The most common form of alopecia affecting around 50% of men by the time they reach the age of 50. It is hereditary and thought to be associated with having an excess of a particular hormone, which affects hair follicles.

Hair Loss Solutions: Cosmetic & Paramedical Care

At our studio, we understand that hair loss can impact more than just appearance—it affects confidence and self-image. That’s why we offer Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) services that are both cosmetic and paramedical, tailored to your unique needs.

Paramedical SMP

This service is ideal for clients experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions such as:

  • Alopecia (areata, totalis, universalis)
  • Chemotherapy or radiation treatments
  • Trichotillomania
  • Hair transplant scars or trauma

These procedures are designed to restore a natural appearance and help camouflage visible medical effects, supporting your emotional and physical healing journey.

Cosmetic SMP

Cosmetic SMP is perfect for those experiencing:

  • Age-related hair thinning
  • Receding hairline
  • Pattern baldness
  • Desire for a fuller, denser hair look

This non-invasive solution enhances the appearance of hair density, sharpens the hairline, and creates a clean, low-maintenance look.

Cosmetic Permanent Makeup for Hair Loss

What is Scalp  Micropigmentation?
Scalp or hair micropigmentation is a superficial cosmetic tattoo that gives the  illusion of density to a thinning crown. It does not require surgery or head shaving, and most clients see results in just one session.

  • Minimally invasive, non-surgical.
  • Immediate results, no downtime
  • Natural-looking results
  • It lasts, it does not wash or fall out a real confidence booster.
  • Can be refreshed and updated every two years and can last 5+ years.
  • This procedure is actually less painful than getting a tattoo.
  • Leaves no scarring
  • Conceals balding and thinning areas

The model has dark hair and this contrasts dramatically with thinning hair and scalp. She  has gotten a scalp hair line tattoo. This scalp micropigmentation is a permanent makeup, non-surgical, or cosmetic tattoo. It gives the illusion of a close-cut hairstyle and  density to a thinning crown. The artist will draw microlines on your head to simulate hair on the scalp.

IDEAL candidate for Scalp & Hairline MICROPIGMENTATION (SMP)

stages of alopecia for men and women

Norwood Scale

  • Stage 1: Baseline-No hair loss. No noticeable loss of hair or recession of hairline.
  • Stage 2: The Hairline begins to thin typically in an “m” shape pattern the temples. This stage is also called the mature hairline stage, where the hairline around the temples exhibits a slight recession.
  • Stage 3:  The “m” pattern first seen  in the previous stage deepens.  Often, hair at the crown of the head begins  to thin during this time as well.  This is the first stage for scalp hair loss that can be technically considered “baldness.”
  • Stage 4:  Hair recedes more dramatically at the side in this stage, often leaving a triangular island of hair at the front of the head.  The bald spot in the back of the head is more noticeable. However there is generally a full bridge of hair that separates the two distinct areas of hair loss.
  • Stage 5:  Two main regions of hair loss  in the front and back are still distinct, but  the band that separates them starts to thin.
  • Stage 6: Two main areas of hair loss unite in the stage.  Hair continues to recede around the side of the head.
  • Stage 7:  In this stage,  only the hair around the back and sides of the head remain, forming the classic “horseshoe” pattern.

Ludwig Scale

  • Type 1: Generalized thinning with discrete areas of alopecia in the frontal and crown vertex area.
  • Type 2: Global diffuse thinning without discrete areas of alopecia.
  • Type 3: Frontal temporal recession typically seen in male pattern alopecia.
  • Type 4: Scarring alopecia.
  • Type 5: Medical and hormonal causes(usually not surgically treated).

Who is the best candidate for Scalp and Hairline Micropigmentation Treatment?

  • Men  and women with crown balding, thinning hair, receding hairline, bald  spots, shedding, including male and female pattern baldness.
  • Individuals  with alopecia areata, other medical conditions including taking  medicines that cause baldness, such as cancer treatments.
  • Anyone with scalp scarring or birthmark (from any surgery like a hair transplant, head injury or a face lift).
  • Individuals who are getting other hair loss restoration treatments somewhere else.

What to Expect at a Hair Loss Consultation

What happens at a hair loss consultation ?

During your initial consultation, we will talk about what you’re looking to achieve. You will also get an overview of the procedure that is best for you and your

pre-appointment checklist.

We will suggest what procedures will work best with your natural hairline, the shape of your face and head, and we will ask how you used to cut and part your hair when it was full, and the desired hair length or hairstyle going forward. The procedure takes three to four sessions which usually last for couple of hours.

Your personalized scalp hair loss solution is created to match your looks, your wants, and your needs.  Only once we both agree on a plan, only then, will your journey begin toward your hair loss solution.

How is scalp micropigmentation done?

If you just googled "hair falling out" you need to visit us and see what we have done for other with hair loss.

Scalp and hairline micropigmentation is a Hair Tattoo or a Head Tattoo done on the scalp.  But not just any tattoo artist can create the unique look of natural hair. You will want a great artist to work on your head. You will want an artist who can create the look of hair follicles by implanting your precise pigment color into the scalp. Before beginning the process, the artist develops a series of tints that match the color of your real hair and skin tone.

You will want that artist to use only top-of-the-line, industry-specific ink, that will not turn green or blue. Another common cause of discoloration is poor technique – heavy handedness of going too deep with the needle or going too dark with the pigment.

Finally, micropigmentation is performed using an electric tattoo device. It is used to draw in small strokes or dots that mimic real hair follicles. A skilled artist will  have the talent to ensure the dots look like natural hair follicles and blend in smoothly. This is the technique called scalp micropigmentation — a dot-by-dot application of dyes — that mimics pointillism and is used to create the appearance of hair fullness. This process is to simulate hair on the scalp, so that the contrast between the hair and the scalp is less dramatic, especially when the hair is parted.

After the process is completed, you can return to your normal activities immediately. Thinning Hair Aftercare instructions will be provided.
